Half the Sky bookAbout a year ago, as I was writing Women as Healers: Voices of Vibrancy, a new book called Half the Sky was introduced. It is written by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, Pultizer Prize-winning journalists. She is Chinese American and worked for the New York Times; he continues to write for the NY Times. It is filled with research and very impactful stories – making a strong case for empowering women worldwide, especially in the my impoverished regions.

As I read it (in three days, because I just couldn’t put it down!), they are talking about the oppression of women around the world and Women as Healers is about 31 powerful women who are a part of the solution, doing healing work– a rebuttal to oppression.  They suggest again and again, involvement at the grassroots level and this is exactly what each of the women profiled in Women as Healers is doing. It is what Women as Healers is all about!  These two books compliment each other so well – I couldn’t have planned this!!!
